Filhos de Bimba Escola de Capoeira was founded June 10, 1986 in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil by Manoel Nascimento Machado (Mestre Nenel), the son of Manuel dos Reis Machado, better known as  Mestre Bimba, the creator of Capoeira Regional. Our school’s goal is to educate, train, study, promote and preserve the traditions, methodology and principles of Capoeira Regional.

Filhos de Bimba has expanded across the globe with schools in England, Belgium, Italy, Canada, Croatia, Germany and Lebanon.

The Bay Area chapter was inaugurated March  30, 2013 as the first FdB núcleo - chapter - in the United States. There are now five chapters in North America; Fdb Toronto, FdB Bay Area, FdB Fort Worth, FdB Detroit and FdB Atlanta.
